I need to replace a bad stepper motor on my 4th gen hobby laser. Does anyone know the specs on these?
I contacted Full Spectrum and apparently it's a big secret.

They're common off the shelf steppers. Measure up the size and check the specs online. They're not magical special steppers that are available nowhere else.

Thanks for the reply TLHarrell,

There are no specs on the motor it is unmarked. Please if you can give me the specs or close to them I would appreciate it very much.

need to know:
steps per revolution?
ohms per winding?
oz-in holding torque?
amps/phase?
1.8 degrees or 0.9 degrees?

Silly question, have you asked to purchase one from them?

Yes but I did not want to pay $50 for a $15 stepper motor.

Can someone please help me find out what stepper motor I need?

Thanks

If you do not know the nema size. The below link will help to determine nema size and motor windings.

It is a Nema 17... that much is certain.

One option would be to find out the Chinese name for that unit- I think it's K40 or similar- and see if you can find repair parts from that angle. I know FSL did upgrades/mods to the stock K40's, but the steppers are probably the same.

Is there any way to use the cogging of a non-powered motor to determine the step angle?

Ok I took a shot in the dark and ordered a 4-lead Nema 17 Stepper Motor 42BYGH 1.7A to see if that will be close. I chose this motor because the stepper motors at the time of manufacture for the FSL 4th Gen hobby laser and early k40's were predominantly this one I think :)
I will let you all know soon.
